I see the Cake but Where is the Song

I see the Cake but Where is the Song

Today is the day we celebrate the birth of the greatest man that ever lived, Jesus the Christ. We enjoy our families, we open our gifts, we welcome “Him” to the festivities but we never come around to singing “His Song”. You know, the song that keeps your life going in a forward direction. The song that reminds you that life is not about you but indeed all about Him. The song that celebrates our reason for life. This song, is the one that is seen and not always heard. This song is displayed by our lives. We all have desires and we all have things that motivate us to do what we do, but if we are presenting the “cake” which is our lives but not actually giving it to God, which is the “song” then when we will always have a missing ingredient to the celebration that awaits. This week’s inspiration is about leaving nothing out that belongs to the King! The three wise men came to “Baby Jesus” presenting gifts. Their gifts were not an identifying factor of who he was in the moment (baby) but who he was called to be (King) from birth. That’s amazing! You see in many ways there are parallels between what Jesus was born to do and what we have access to as well. From the beginning of Jesus’ life, he was a threat and on the top of King Herod’s hit list. As a baby, could Jesus do much? No, as an infant was he actually a threat? No! But you see,  King Herod was not concerned  with...
Nothing Added, Nothing Needed

Nothing Added, Nothing Needed

Have you ever looked at someone and thought they had it “All” together but after getting to know them you realized that even the most “put together” people have their hang ups,  imperfections, and personal struggles. There is no way  that we can assess ones personal life based on what is seen. Furthermore God challenges us through His word to diligently seek Him that we might not lean unto our own understanding but acknowledge him, for the purpose of being  led by Him. Recently God has been teaching me the importance of not only acknowledging but appreciating who and what I have right now at the moment. Just how we look at people and gather assessment in the same way we do that concerning our own lives. We create “lists”, reasons, accomplishments, etc that in many ways we use to identify if we’ve made it or how far we need to go before we do. However, in this season God is challenging us to look around, I mean take a really good look around us and begin the thank HIM for what He has already done, what we already have, and who we already are. Can you honestly say that something needs to be added to your life  or that your life is in “life altering” need ? If you are currently reading this post, certainly you can’t. In your  hand right now is some sort of electronic device that either has a monthly fee or a one time fee that was not necessarily the least expensive thing in the store. Simple things like what we are using right...

The Golden Ticket

The Golden Ticket

During my recent birthday travels I watched a movie on the plane, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”. I found myself going back to fond memories of all that the movie brought to mind. However, in the process of thinking on those memories, I couldn’t help but think about the concept of “The Golden Ticket”. I immediately began to think about the things that I desire, the things that I already have, but also all that I have access to because of my Father. In this movie, people all across the world are searching for “The Golden Ticket”, a ticket  that will give them access into the mysteries and pleasures of a factory that produces everything good, sweet, and to a perfection that one could ever imagine. I couldn’t help but see parallels in my personal relationship and understanding of who God is, and what He offers as a result of receiving “His Golden Ticket”. During one point in the movie, everyone thought that the last ticket had been found but it was a hoax, a counterfeit, a man-made alteration of the real “Golden Ticket”. The implications behind someone creating or fabricating the real thing speaks volumes in comparison to the counterfeit things we create in our culture, in order to have access into various places or with various people. How very important it is to keep in mind  the original intent and creation of God’s golden ticket in our personal lives. What God makes available to you and I has nothing to do with what we can create but we allow him to be and do in and with us....
